𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, 𝐊𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐚 𝐋𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐫 – Industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and business professionals gathered today for a significant forum focused on regional economic growth and collaboration here in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KLSICCI). The event was graced by Mr. M.I. Mohamed Rizvi, Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, alongside distinguished attendees from KLSICCI, including President Mr. Nivas Ragavan, Deputy President Mr. Prabagaran Vyithilingam, Hon. Secretary General Ms. Mogana Chinnathamby, Council Member and Chairperson of International Trade & Industry / Greentech and Innovation Committee Mr. Ir. Prabakaran Rajah, Dr. Chitra Devi, Pn. Fauziah Bibi, Mr. Selvarajoo Horikrishna, and Ampang District Liaison Mr. Gunaraj Muniandy.
The first segment welcomed Mr. Shalaka Wijeyaratne, Executive Director of Investment Promotion & Marketing at CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd, Port City Colombo who spoke on Colombo Port City’s potential as a financial and commercial hub in South Asia. Malaysian businesses exploring opportunities in trade, financial services, and infrastructure were encouraged to engage in discussions on partnerships with Sri Lanka. Mr. Rizvi actively participated in the discussions, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties with Malaysia.
The second segment covered updates on the Market Development Grant (MDG), with Mr. Muhammad Hussein Bin Abdullah, Deputy Lead of the ESG Unit at MATRADE, as the speaker. Attendees gained valuable insights into the latest changes, benefits, and application processes, equipping them with essential knowledge to expand into international markets.
With Malaysia hosting the ASEAN Summit in 2025, the event highlighted the importance of leveraging trade agreements, investment incentives, and regional collaborations. ASEAN’s fast-growing economy presents vast opportunities for businesses looking to expand.
