About Us
Our History
From its humble beginnings in 1928, KLSICCI has grown into a respected and influential voice for Malaysian Indian businesses, bridging heritage with economic progress.
The Beginning of a Legacy
In 1928, a few Indian merchants dealing mainly in spices, textiles, and other commodities came together to establish the Chamber of Commerce. From these humble beginnings, the Chamber has grown into the influential and prestigious organisation known today as KLSICCI.
The first President, the late Mr. R.E. Mohamed Kassim, along with early pioneers such as the late Haji Peer Mohamed, Mr. V.O.K. Ganapathi Pillai, and Mr. Ismail Ghaney Rawther, led the Chamber in its modest initiatives until the outbreak of Pacific hostilities in 1942 during the Japanese occupation.
Today, KLSICCI safeguards the Malaysian Indian community’s varied business needs and matters of urgent concern. It remains ever cognizant of and proactive in addressing the nation’s fast-paced economic development, functioning as a vital link between the Government and the private sector.

Each leader brought unique strengths and contributed significantly to the Chamber’s continued growth and relevance. Their collective efforts laid the foundation for our achievements, and their legacy continues to guide us as we move forward.
We stand today on the shoulders of giants — thank you for your invaluable contributions.
