3rd August 2026, Kuala Lumpur – The Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KLSICCI) paid a courtesy visit to the High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new opportunities for collaboration in trade, investment and economic development.
The KLSICCI delegation was led by Mr. V.K.K. Rajasekaran Teagarajan, President, accompanied by Dr. Chitra Devi S. Balakrishnan, Vice President; Mr. Tony Clifford A. Thomas, Honorary Secretary General; Mr. Pravin Selvam Tamil Selvam, Assistant Honorary Secretary General and Dr. Rajasekar Mohan, Council Member and Chairman of the International Desk & Embassies Liaison. The delegation was received by Mr. Hitesh Rajpal, Acting High Commissioner of India to Malaysia, together with Dr. Vivekanand T.S, First Secretary (Commerce & Education).
The meeting began with both parties reaffirming the longstanding relationship between KLSICCI and the High Commission of India. The High Commission of India reflected on several successful collaborations with KLSICCI over the years, including the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) student visit, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) business delegation and other initiatives that have strengthened Malaysia–India business relations.
The discussion then focused on expanding bilateral trade and investment opportunities, with particular emphasis on emerging sectors such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), renewable energy and semiconductor development. Both parties exchanged views on fostering innovation-driven partnerships while exploring the implementation of a pilot programme in renewable energy that could benefit businesses from both nations.
Recognizing the growing demand for skilled talent, KLSICCI and the High Commission also discussed opportunities to collaborate on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes for Indian students, aimed at enhancing industry-relevant skills and supporting workforce development. The discussion also covered opportunities relating to foreign workforce collaboration, with both parties exchanging perspectives on addressing industry needs while supporting sustainable economic growth.
In addition, the meeting explored initiatives to strengthen tourism promotion, establish India–Malaysia city partnerships to encourage greater economic and cultural exchanges, and identify potential commodities that could be exported from India to Malaysia to enhance bilateral trade.
The meeting concluded with both KLSICCI and the High Commission of India expressing their commitment to further strengthening cooperation and pursuing initiatives that will create greater opportunities for businesses while enhancing the long-standing partnership between Malaysia and India.
