24th July, Kuala Lumpur – The Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KLSICCI) had the privilege of meeting with the High Commission of the Republic of Kenya today to strengthen bilateral trade relations and explore new avenues for economic collaboration between Malaysia and Kenya.
The Kenyan delegation was led by His Excellency Amb. Ekitela Moru, High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya, accompanied by Mr. Cyrus Kipkazi, First Secretary (Economic & Commercial Section).
Representing KLSICCI were President Mr. V.K.K. Rajasekaran Teagarajan, Deputy President Ms. Mogana Chinnathamby, Honorary Secretary General Mr. Tony Clifford A. Thomas, Assistant Honorary Secretary General, Mr. Pravin Selvam Tamil Selvam and Council Member Mr. Shamil Patel.
The meeting featured constructive discussions on expanding bilateral cooperation in key sectors including trade and investment, tourism, renewable energy, agriculture and TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) skills development. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to fostering stronger business-to-business partnerships, promoting talent development, and creating new opportunities for enterprises in both countries.
A key outcome of the meeting was the discussion on renewing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between KLSICCI and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), following the expiry of the previous agreement. KLSICCI President Mr. V.K.K. Rajasekaran Teagarajan welcomed the proposal and expressed the Chamber’s commitment to signing a renewed MoU. It was further proposed that the signing ceremony be held in the presence of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) to reinforce the significance of the partnership and further strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.
KLSICCI looks forward to working closely with the High Commission of the Republic of Kenya and KNCCI to facilitate greater trade, investment, skills development, and business opportunities for our members while strengthening the long-standing relationship between Malaysia and Kenya.
