KLSICCI and Royal Thai Embassy Strengthen Bilateral Economic Ties

Objectives: To explore opportunities for collaboration across various sectors, including agriculture, agro-industry, food processing, halal products, digital industries, manufacturing, tourism, and services.

𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, 𝐊𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐚 𝐋𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐫 – The Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KLSICCI) held a courtesy meeting with the Royal Thai Embassy in Malaysia, aiming to enhance bilateral economic relations. The KLSICCI delegation, led by President Mr. Nivas Ragavan and including Hon. Secretary General Ms. Mogana Chinnathamby, Council Members Mr. Selvarajoo Horikirishna, Datuk Ganesh Muraj, and Mr. Shamil Patel, met with Mr. Chaiyut Boonkong, Counsellor (Commercial) at the Royal Thai Embassy.

The meeting focused on Thailand’s economic strengths in agriculture, agro-industry, and food processing. The Embassy’s comprehensive initiatives to promote trade, investment, and tourism were detailed, encompassing the organisation of trade missions, inviting Malaysian exhibitors to major Thai exhibitions like THAIFEX – Anuga Asia, and fostering Thai product promotion within Malaysia. Discussions also covered several upcoming events in both Thailand and Malaysia, designed to facilitate Malaysian engagement across various sectors, including trade exhibitions, solo shows, and specialised fairs for logistics, gems, and jewellery.

The KLSICCI delegates conveyed the chamber’s strong interest in collaborating across diverse sectors, specifically identifying halal products, digital industries, manufacturing, tourism, and services. Representing nearly 1,000 direct members and 30,000 affiliated members, the chamber also explored opportunities for Thai investments in Malaysia and potential joint ventures.

The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to maintain continuous information exchange and to explore joint delegation initiatives, reinforcing their shared commitment to fostering robust economic ties.
