General Information

MOSBUILD is the leading and largest building materials exhibition in Russia and Eastern Europe and it has been held annually since 1995. The exhibition is one of the largest building materials exhibitions catering for the Russian, Eastern Europe and the Central Asian emerging markets. With a total of 135,000 sqm of exhibition area, MosBuild has attracted about 2,300 international exhibitors participating in the show annually. The number of visitors also totaled no less than 100,000 on each edition of the fair. This will be MATRADE’s 3rd year of participation in Mosbuild. During MosBuild 2014, a total of RM112.5 million in sales generated was achieved for 11 Malaysian exhibitors. This exhibition is relevant for Malaysian companies looking to penetrate the Russian construction and building materials market as most of the visitors to MosBuild were construction companies, local importers, distributors, and agents dealing with building material products. In 2014, the fair attracted more than 129,000 trade visitors from more than 48 countries. MosBuild is also a strategic platform for Malaysian companies to tap the huge potential in the emerging markets in Eastern European countries such as Georgia, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine and Turkey and the five Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Malaysia’s participation in this trade fair will help to enhance Malaysia’s image and enable buyers from these regions to know more about Malaysian products. With the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018 which will be hosted by the country, the housing and property market is expected to expand together with the developments in road and transport infrastructure across Russia, thus leading to increased demand for construction and building materials. General Information

The China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, is held biannually in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province every May (spring) and October (autumn). This internationally renowned event has a history of 57 years since 1957. Every session, this exhibition will be divided into three phases (Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3), according to the product and service clusters determined by the organiser. The International Pavilion is only available in Phase 1 and Phase 3 for each session and has an exhibition space of 20,000 square meters. MATRADE is only involved in organising the participation of Malaysian exporters in Phase 3. In 2014, the 115th Canton Fair, Phase 3 (Spring Session) attracted more than 188,000 overseas buyers from 214 countries and regions around the world. Asia was ranked No.1 in buyers’ attendance, taking up 55.5% of the total, followed by Europe (17.2%), USA (14.7%), Africa (9.3%) and Oceania (3.4%). Total transaction volume amounted to USD31.05 billion with participation by top retail buyers such as Wal-Mart, Carrefour, Tesco, Metro, Kroger, Costco, ALDI and The Home Depots. MATRADE has identified the Canton Fair as a strategic platform for Malaysian companies to promote and brand Malaysian products to China and overseas markets. Products to be promoted in Phase 3 of the Canton Fair are as follows: • Food & Drink (food, beverages, edible oil, fruits, health food, food packaging, drinks etc); • Household Items (general houseware, cleaning products, bathroom products, home decorations, stationery, personal care products and disposable products, cosmetics, skin care products, beauty care products, kitchenware & tableware etc); and • Fabrics & Home Textiles (fabrics, fiber and yarns, garment accessories etc). This will be MATRADE’s 10th participation in INDOBUILDTECH since 2006. Every year, Malaysia’s participation in the fair had been successful. During IndoBuildTech Jakarta 2014, a total of RM127.33 million in sales generated were achieved by Malaysian exhibitors in the Malaysia Pavilion. The China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), held twice a year in spring and autumn is China’s largest trade fair, occupying 16 halls with a total space of 1,160,000 square meters. Following the 117th China Import and Export Fair, Phase 3 (Spring Session) held in May 2015, MATRADE will be organising the participation of Malaysian companies under the Malaysia Pavilion in the 118th China Import and Export Fair, Phase 3 (Autumn Session), located in the International Pavilion Hall of Pazhou Complex, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. This fair serves as a strategic platform to promote Malaysian products as it is frequented by a large number of Chinese and international buyers who visited the fair to source for products. This will be MATRADE’s 14th participation in Big 5 Show since 2001. During the BIG 5 Show Dubai 2014, a total of RM113.22 million in sales generated were achieved by the 30 Malaysian exhibitors in the Malaysia Pavilion. For more than 30 years, the Big 5 Dubai exhibition serves as a strategic networking platform for the construction and building materials industry. It is an opportunity for buyers and sellers of construction products and services from around the region to source for an array of products. Jewellery Arabia is the largest and most prestigious jewellery exhibition in the Middle East. Since its inception in 1992, it has provided international jewellery houses with unrivalled direct access to trade buyers and private collectors throughout this important economic sector. In 2014, there were 600 exhibitors from 35 countries pavilion including Malaysia participated in the show. A total of 29% of the visitors were from Saudi Arabia. Currently Malaysian jewellery is re-exported to the Gulf region through UAE and Singapore. Participation in this event provides an avenue for Malaysian companies to export directly to the countries in the region.
